Haute Couture SS12 street style- Paris

As much as I love gazing upon the carefully crafted haute couture collections, i just as much enjoy seeing the street style which passes through the Parisian streets. There's something authentic, real and relatable about the various expressions of style seen in these pictures which I love to see.

Favourite spring/summer 2012 campaigns

In no particular order...

Givenchy

Givenchy's ss12 campaign was one of the first to be released online and I love the moody dark feel to it. Although i'm not the biggest Gisele fan, her and (one of my favs!) Mariacarla suit this broody almost gothic setting. The ad campaign was shot on a beach in Barcelona by Mert & Marcus.

Chloe

I love the simplicity of this campaign. No extravagant location, and the focus is all on those two beautiful Chloe dresses. The campaign stars Karmen Pedaru & Kate King, shot by Glen Luchford.

Gucci

Two of my favourite models (Abbey Lee Kershaw & Karmen Pedaru) look sultry and sexy in Gucci's spring 2012 ad campaign. Photographed by Mert & Marcus, the glossy ad campaign is sleek and oozes style and perfection.

Jil Sander

This probably is my favourite ad campaign of all of ss12! Loving the Hitchcock feel to it, which is displayed through the model's poses, facial expressions to the lighting and the structured pieces their wearing.

Prada

1950's inspired looks, lots of colour and Natasha Poly. Need I say more?

Chanel

Can't stand Saskia de Brauw and wasn't really the biggest fan of this ad campaign,but once I watched the behind the scenes footage I feel in love with it. Joan Smalls looks absolutey amazing in this, and it's great she scored a Chanel campaign! Watch the behind the scenes footage of Chanel's ss12 campaign below:



Valentino

Valentino ad campaigns are always so pretty, and this one is no different. The juxtaposition between the natural and somewhat ruff location to those pretty perfect-looking dresses and models creates a beautiful atmosphere. Watch the making of Valentino's ss12 ad campaign below:

Tulle!

Layered beautifully on ivory wedding dresses or floating gently on free flowing tutu’s, tulle is one of the most beautiful fabrics to represent wealth, elegance and culture. Named after the city of Tulle in France, it was created in the 1700’s, and manufactured of hexagonal mesh which resembled a honeycomb pattern. Tulle became synonymous with wedding dresses due to Queen Victoria, when Her Royal Highness wore a filmy off-the-shoulder tulle wedding gown in 1840, making it instantly popular and creating a trend that has flourished over 100 years. Courtier Fredrich Worth modified the tulle trend by showing it’s versatility through a tulle hat in the 19th century and Swedish ballerina Marie Taglioni popularized tulle in ballet by wearing a bell shaped tutu made of gauzy layered tulle in productions such as La Sylphide. Today, tulle remains a sort after fabric, whether in the form of a white tulle dress, with swan draped across your neck ( à la Bjork), or in an oscar-worthy dramatic gown with a tulle full skirt and embellished bodice- either way tulle proves to be a versatile fabric with an air of romanticism,beauty and elegance which remains timeless.

New York Fashion Week: The Row SS12

The Row's spring/summer 2011 was white hot, with a minimal clean colour palette being the common denominator throughout the collection. Dashes of mint green and blush pinks were present, as were sheer separates draped beautifully over silk dresses and skirts. The pyjama trend sees no sign of slowing down,as the Olsen twins went full on, with additions of satin bathrobes and pyjama-esque trousers. White flat sandals, minimal layering and loose silhouettes completed this simple yet effective spring summer 2011 collection, which was quite reminiscent of our favourite minimalistic designer Pheobe Philo's collections for Céline.

New York Fashion Week: Suno SS12

These are my favourite looks from Suno's spring/summer 2012 collection, and I have to say I loved it! This collection consisted of sheer blouses, floral appliques,drop waist dresses in silk & chiffon, metallic separates, spring florals, bold patterns, watercolour prints and a pastel spring colour palette. I practically loved every piece from this collection, because of its ease and chicness with simple separates delicately designed with beautiful patterns and light colour palette-making this the ultimate spring wardrobe.
