Pyjama dressing- effortlessly stylish or not?

Pyjama dressing has become a phenomenon these past few seasons, with the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Celine and Stella McCartney boosting the two-piece sleepwear. Even hottie Ryan Gosling wowed us in a Ferragamo pyjama styled suit at Cannes last year! The trend continues to dominate, with Balmain’s pre-fall 2012 collection featuring an art deco inspired silk pyjama suit which hung effortlessly on model Kasia Struss- but can pyjama dressing work for the masses? Bloggers Rumi Neely & Elin Kling have successfully tried this trend, with paisley print pink pyjama pants while fashion icon and stylist Caroline Sieber went full steam ahead wearing a royal blue silk pyjama suit with white piping. Are favourite fashionista’s seem to be working the trend perfectly, however I am still quite skeptical on how to wear this trend. This trend can easily become quite tricky to pull off, without looking sloppy due to the cut of some of these garments. However, rocking maybe the pyjama pant or pyjama top separately may create a more comfortable effortless look if the whole suit doesn’t work for you. Team your pyjama top with a chic blazer, skinny jeans and a pair of velvet loafers and your easy chic PJ look will be ready to go!

Anja.

Anja Rubik for Vogue Japan Feb 2012 issue. Photographed by Hedi Slimane.

Although this editorial is hardly innovative or mind blowing, I have a soft spot for striking black and white editorials such as this one. Anja looks pretty amazing also.

Favourite spring/summer 2012 campaigns

In no particular order...

Givenchy

Givenchy's ss12 campaign was one of the first to be released online and I love the moody dark feel to it. Although i'm not the biggest Gisele fan, her and (one of my favs!) Mariacarla suit this broody almost gothic setting. The ad campaign was shot on a beach in Barcelona by Mert & Marcus.

Chloe

I love the simplicity of this campaign. No extravagant location, and the focus is all on those two beautiful Chloe dresses. The campaign stars Karmen Pedaru & Kate King, shot by Glen Luchford.

Gucci

Two of my favourite models (Abbey Lee Kershaw & Karmen Pedaru) look sultry and sexy in Gucci's spring 2012 ad campaign. Photographed by Mert & Marcus, the glossy ad campaign is sleek and oozes style and perfection.

Jil Sander

This probably is my favourite ad campaign of all of ss12! Loving the Hitchcock feel to it, which is displayed through the model's poses, facial expressions to the lighting and the structured pieces their wearing.

Prada

1950's inspired looks, lots of colour and Natasha Poly. Need I say more?

Chanel

Can't stand Saskia de Brauw and wasn't really the biggest fan of this ad campaign, but once I watched the behind the scenes footage I feel in love with it. Joan Smalls looks absolutey amazing in this, and it's great she scored a Chanel campaign! Watch the behind the scenes footage of Chanel's ss12 campaign below:

Valentino

Valentino ad campaigns are always so pretty, and this one is no different. The juxtaposition between the natural and somewhat ruff location to those pretty perfect-looking dresses and models creates a beautiful atmosphere. Watch the making of Valentino's ss12 ad campaign below:

Karlie Kloss: The skinny debate continues ...

So this image of Karlie Kloss from her Vogue Italia editorial is making it's rounds on the net, and from the comments i've seen something has urked me. Why do people feel it's acceptable to curse/bully/offend models because there skinny? This isn't the first time incidents like this have happened, where i've seen comments such as 'ugh she needs to eat sandwich' 'or she looks like death she needs to eat' e.t.c.  Although anorexia and bulimia are clearly issues which are within this industry, some of these models are naturally skinny such as Karlie Kloss and the abuse that is hurled at them for being proud of who they are and their body types are shocking. You wouldn't go up to a fat person and start hurling abuse so why does society thinks it's acceptable to do this to people who are skinny? I think in this day and age we should be promoting acceptance, whether your fat or stick thin skinny- be proud of who you are and the body you have (unless it's an unhealthy obsession which you need help for). Thus the constant criticism of models being 'too skinny' although some are naturally that way, shouldn't constantly have to defend themselves or feel ashamed/bullied by society for not living up to the standards we set today (being 'curvy')

BTW I am nowhere near biased in this debate as I am faarrrr from skinny lol. Just something which i've noticed has become a norm in society to treat skinny models (or skinny people in general) as somewhat disgusting. Not everyone can be or wants to have a body like Beyonce or Kim Kardashian!

Fashion TV First Face: Aymeline Valade.

OBSESSED WITH HER. I THINK SHE'S MY NEW FREJA.

btw: How cute is her French accent? I instantly want to hop on the Eurostar and head to Paris when she speaks.

Jourdan Dunn & Saskia De Brauw for I-D Winter 2011

I'm currently in love with Jourdan Dunn's I-D cover! I-D's covers usually always impress me, but this cover has simply blown me away. The simplicity of it, with the bold pops of colour remind me of old issues of The Face, and Jourdan just looks stunning. Saskia De Brauw's cover on the other hand...

I'm not the biggest fan of Ms. De Brauw's look, and I feel this cover does her no favours. With her rather muscular jaw line and 'androgynous' look, it would have been refreshing to see her in a softer cover (a la Jourdan's) rather than an 'edgy' harsh black and white image.

Baby Naomi

Naomi Campbell's first ever magazine cover.
Ahhh the innocence! She looks stunning & fresh on this cover, and still remains one of the most beautiful supermodels of the nineties.

LOVING: Arizona Muse Vogue Korea September 2011

This is Arizona Muse's first Vogue cover and I love it! The very hyped about model has also covered Vogue Italia January 2011 issue alongside rumoured girlfriend Freja Beha Erichsen, but this is her first solo one! She is definitely growing on me as a model, and I love the simplicity of this cover.
